DECODE: Digital Design Sensations
Written by GYNelle
Tuesday, 9 March 2010

The V&A are currently exhibiting digital art work from a range of artists all surrounding the theme of code, interactivity and network. Producing a new age Garden of Eden; lined in high res moving digital art produced by algorithms which allow unique images to be produced every time, art that reacts to sound and touch, a giant digital dandelion which you can blow and sculptures which react or mimic your every move. It was an unorthodox experience being in an art gallery admiring works all powered by electricity; eyes being transfixed on a HD LCD screen instead of a canvas, watching as the portrait I admire is of my face, and is being drawn before eyes. All works are a consequence of beautiful design; inspiring awe and intrigue. Although a short exhibition, it successfully illustrates how computer programmers are the artists of the future.

V&A, Porter Gallery until 11 April 2010
