*AL: QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS* Q: Whats your name and where are you from? The name is Ala, originally Kurdish Iranian, grew up in Stockholm, Sweden and randomly ended up in London! Q: When did you join WeAreHQ and who on the team are you connected to? I joined the team just around Christmas and I’ve known Magdi, Q and Howard for a while now through Mr Jay Lewis! Q: What are you bringing to the team? A lot of laughs, ambition, team effort and happiness! Very cheesy. I love working with people and I love learning from people! Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? Driving a Ferrari, making that big money. Or living the simple life on an island somewhere far away from the corrupted society we live in! Yes I’m completely contradicting myself now. Q:The one thing you would do if you had unlimited resources? As cliché as it sounds I would travel around the world over and over again! I’m the happiest when I encounter new people and different cultures! And I would also make sure my family are living the good life! Q: If you could meet anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why? This is where I’m supposed to mention a legend of some sort, my minds completely blank. Q: Describe your perfect Sunday? It would have to be summer, outdoors, music, good friends, chilling in the afternoon sun and feeling on top of the world! And preferably not having to work the day after! Q: What was your first music album you can remember buying? Oh wow… It must have been Ace of Base and I was about 7. Don’t judge me. I was a refugee child. Really, I was. Q: What’s your most treasured possession? All the photos I have of family and friends. Photos capture moments forever! And that I would never wanna lose. Q: Where do you call home? I’m a citizen of the world, so home is where my heart is, and my heart is with my family in Sweden! Q: Give us a random fact about you? When I was little I preferred playing with toy guns and cars rather than dolls and girly things! Finish the sentence “London needs…..?” …a damn beach! I miss hanging out by the beach in the summer time. And no, I’m not about to jump into the Thames!
BIO: Born in Iran in 1985 to freedom fighters as parents. In 1992, she finally settled down in Sweden where she grew up. At the age of 19, after working as a teacher for a year she felt she wanted to move from on from her life in Sweden and bought a one-way ticket to London and hasn’t looked back since..! After a year of working in Selfridges, London she realised retail wasn’t her thing and randomly applied for a Make Up Course at London College of Fashion. That has now led her to the BA in Fashion Specialism from which she will be graduating this summer. Very ironic as Ala started out studying science back home. Whilst trying to complete her degree she also does freelance make-up at fashion shows, music videos, photoshoots etc! Her other big passion is working with kids and in the future, would like to revisit teaching and perhaps combine it with the arts.
